The
essence of architecture is felt as a work of art when
it
attains a sense of ‘Place' which contains our lives.
Furthermore, it is more so when it attains a 'Meaning'
beyond the 'Place', which drives our lives forward.
Life
is a process of realizing our innermost potential. It
produces numerous relations in the process. Therefore,
life is a stream of realizations of individual dreams
on this network of relations. If architecture should
contain and construct this network of our lives, the
first thing that architecture should accomplish is to
bring together
|
|
'you'
and 'I'. Further, architecture should unite various
forces at the base of this network of relations with
'Place', 'Space', and the ‘Context’ and ‘Sense’
of things.
Architecture
of this museum is focused on creating the bridge-'Place'-to
bring people together, especially, the bridge between
us and Park Soo Keun - his art, his life, and the artist
himself. It is hoped that through creation of
this 'Place', our will to life will be strengthened.
As the museum was designed to give an opportunity for
people to experience Park's creative processes at work
and his life, the sequence of spaces which enable us
to understand his art emerged as the most important
aspect of the architectural design process.
I
sculpt the museum in the ground.
