리딩룸 Reading Room

2022 아르코미술관 주제기획전 《일시적 개입》 전시장 내 리딩룸에서는 이번 전시의 이해를 도울 수 있는 필진 여섯 명의 글을 만나볼 수 있습니다. 예술의 사회적 활동 및 지역적 역할 고찰, 도시공간과 예술 실천의 관계, 가치와 방식을 지향하는 로컬 활동, 트랜스 로컬리티 등을 주제로 리서치 기반 활동을 추진하고 연구해온 기획자와 연구자의 글이 소개되고 있습니다.

The Reading Room presents articles newly written by six writers as an extension of the theme of the exhibition. It introduces writings by curators and researchers who have promoted and studied research-based activities under the theme of reviewing the social and regional roles of art, the relationship between urban space and art practice, local activities aimed at values and methods, and translocality.

□ 김동일

김동일은 예술 현상을 사회학적으로 개념화하는 작업에 관심을 두고 있다. 부르디외를 중심으로 하우저, 단토, 라투르 등이 서로 교차하는 지점에서 비평적 글쓰기를 수행 중이다. 대구가톨릭대학교 글로벌문화콘텐츠학과 교수이며, 대구가톨릭대학교 다문화연구원장이다. 서강대학교 사회학과 학부, 석사, 박사 과정을 졸업했다. 한국사회학회 논문상(2009), 월간미술대상 학술평론 부문(2011)을 수상했다. 『상징투쟁의 사회학』이 2021년 대한민국학술원 사회과학 분야 우수학술도서에 선정된 바 있다.

□ Dong-il Kim

Dong-il Kim is interested in works that conceptualize art phenomena in a sociological manner. Centering on Pierre Bourdieu, he performs critical writing at the intersecting point of Arnold Hauser, Arthur Danto, and Bruno Latour. He is currently a professor at the Daegu Catholic University Department of Global Cultural Contents and the director of the Daegu Catholic University Center for Multicultural Studies. He completed his undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate courses at Sogang University Department of Sociology. He received the Korean Sociological Association paper award (2009) and Monthly Art Award in academic critique (2011). His work Sociology of Representative Struggles was selected as the best academic book in social sciences by the National Academy of Sciences in 2021.

□ 민운기

예술의 사회적, 지역적 역할이 중요하다는 생각에 지난 2002년 개관한 대안문화공간 스페이스 빔을 꾸려가며 각종 전시 및 비평지 발간, 공공예술프로젝트와 교육프로그램 등을 기획하고 진행하는 등 다양한 실천을 모색해 왔다. 현재 인천 동구 배다리마을을 거점으로 ‘열린 도시공동체 인천’을 만들기 위해 여러 시민문화예술단체 및 활동가들과 네트워크를 형성하여 나름의 역할을 담당하고자 노력하고 있다. 예술 활동을 제도화된 영역에서보다는 구체적 상황과 맥락 속에서 풀어내는 가운데 다양한 활동 방식과 언어를 찾아내고 원활한 소통과 실질적인 변화를 이루는데 많은 관심을 두고 있다.

□ Woon Gi Min

Believing that the social and local roles of art are important, he opened an alternative cultural space called Space Beam in 2002 and has planned and held various exhibitions, and public art projects, and educational programs, as well as published critical writings. He is currently striving to fulfill his role by forming networks with various civic cultural art organizations and activists to create “Open City Community Incheon” based in Baeda-ri Village in Dong-gu, Incheon. He looks for solutions in concrete situations and contexts rather than in fields that institutionalize art activities. He is highly interested in finding various activity methods and languages while achieving smooth communication and practical changes.

□ 심소미

심소미는 서울과 파리를 기반으로 활동하는 독립큐레이터로, 도시공간과 예술 실천의 관계를 큐레토리얼 담론으로 재생산해오고 있다. 주요 기획으로 《미래가 그립나요?》, 《리얼-리얼시티》, 《2018 공공하는 예술: 환상벨트》 등이 있으며, 『큐레이팅 팬데믹』 및 『주변으로의 표류: 포스트 팬데믹 도시의 공공성 전환』을 발간했다. 문화연구지 계간 『문화/과학』의 편집위원이며, 콜렉티브 ‘리트레이싱 뷰로’로도 활동한다.

□ Somi Sim

Somi Sim is an independent curator based in Seoul and Paris. She recreates the relationship between urban spaces and artist practices with curatorial discourses. Her main works include Do You Miss the Future?, REAL-Real City, and 2018 Public Art: Ringring Belt, and some of her publications are Curating the Pandemic and Drifting Nearby: Public Transition of Post-Pandemic Cities. She is an editor for the quarterly cultural journal Culture/Science, and she is also active at the artists’ collective “Re-tracing Buro”.

□ 용해숙

용해숙은 홍익대학교에서 조소를 전공했다. 성공회대학교 일반대학원 아시아 문화연구 전공으로 석사학위를 받았으며 동대학원 사회학과 박사과정을 수료했다. 2014년부터 홍천 지역문화 공간 ‘분홍공장’을 운영하고 있으며 서울과 홍천에서 거주하며 지역을 중심으로 기획,

연구 및 창작 활동을 하고 있다.

□ Yong Hae Sook

Yong Hae Sook majored in sculpture at Hongik University. She earned her master’s degree majoring in Asian cultural research at the Sungkonghoe University Graduate School and earned her doctorate in sociology at the same university. She runs “Pink Factory”, a local cultural space in Hongcheon since 2014, and she is based in Seoul and Hongcheon where she engages in planning, research, and creative activities.

□ 조희정

조희정은 서강대학교 사회과학연구소 전임연구원으로서, 6년째 로컬을 돌아다니며 연구하는 정치학 박사이다. 주로 새로운 가치와 방식을 지향하는 로컬 창업자에 관심이 있지만, 삶의 질이 높아질 수 있는 조건을 마련하기 위해서는 모두의 관심과 협업이 역동적으로 이루어져야 한다고 생각한다. 중앙선거관리위원회와 국회입법조사처에서 근무했으며 현재는 로컬과 청년의 가능성을 연구하는 더가능연구소의 연구실장도 겸임하고 있다.

□ Heejung Cho

Heejung Cho is a full-time researcher at the Sogang University Institute of Social Science. She is a doctor of politics who has been traveling to local areas for six years to conduct her research. Mainly interested in new values and methods, she believes that everyone’s interests and collaboration must be performed dynamically to provide the conditions that can enhance the quality of life. She worked at the National Election Commission and the National Assembly Research Service, and she is currently serving as the research chief at The Possibility Lab where the possibilities of locality and youths are studied.

□ 채은영

도시 공간에서 자본과 제도와 건강한 긴장 관계를 가진 시각예술의 상상과 실천에 관심 많은 인터-로컬 큐레이터로, 트랜스-로컬리티와 생태-정치를 주제로 리서치 기반 큐레토리얼을 지향하는 ‘임시공간’과 인터-로컬 웹진 ‘동무비평 삼사’를 운영하고 있다.

□ Eunyoung Chae

Eunyoung Chae is an interlocal curator highly interested in the coexistence and practice of visual arts with a relationship of healthy tension between capital and systems in urban spaces. She operates “Space Imsi” and the inter-local webzine “Comrade Critique Samsa” which both aim toward curatorial based on researching the themes of trans-locality, ecosystem, and politics.
